Montreal, Quebec

Founded in 1924, Elm Ridge Country Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in North America. Located across the bridge on Ile Bizard, west of downtown Montreal, the club features two picturesque 18-hole Championship golf courses.

In June 2017, they hosted a Comedy Night for their members, featuring entertainment by Magician Sam Pearce.

Sam and his technician travelled by road to Montreal along with all of the production equipment needed for the show. Five hours before the members-only event began, they arrived at the Montreal country club to start preparing for the show. Theatrical lighting, stage curtains, and a crystal-clear sound system were used to transform the club’s ballroom into a dinner theatre. Watch the time-lapse video below to see how we did it!

When guests arrived for cocktails in the club’s lounge, Sam was quick to break the ice by performing his Mingle Magic. Throughout cocktails, he walked around the room welcoming guests and amazing them with incredible magic, up close. One of the most amazing things Sam did was magically causing a dinner fork to bend and twist, simply by waving it back and forth. Jaws dropped as the fork was twisted beyond repair, right before guests’ eyes. These forks were given to guests, creating memorable keepsakes that sparked conversation and got everyone talking.

Guests then sat down in the ballroom to enjoy dinner, catered by the in-house chef at Elm Ridge. Once dessert and drinks were served at the end of the meal, it was showtime.

Music boomed as Sam ran on stage to start the 60-minute highly-interactive magic and comedy act. Sam kept the audience engaged with his quick wit and clever repartee; his clean comedy had everyone roaring with laughter. The crowd especially loved when Sam invited members of the audience to join him in the limelight. Sam’s hilarious antics, combined with the unpredictable nature of the audience, created a memorable night where the guests became the real stars of the show!
