All magicians charge different prices depending on how much they are sought after by event planners, experience, date, time, number of guests, venue, and type of performance. The fact is every job is different, and the price that the magician charges depends on many factors. While some magicians will price based on the type of event, like a company holiday party, others will charge an established hourly rate regardless of the event type.

Magicians specializing in children’s parties usually earn $250-500 for a 30-60 minute performance. For a kid’s party, you should expect to pay an average of $400, depending on what the magician provides, and how far they travel. The price may fluctuate greatly depending on where you are located, what kind of services a professional children’s party magician provides, what stage props or equipment are included in his or her act, how many kids are attending, and any associated travel costs.

Magicians will be busier during certain times of year than others, so that may impact how much it costs to hire them. The type of magician that you want to hire for an event will also impact cost. Naturally, it costs more to hire an experienced corporate magician to entertain 1000 people than it would cost to hire a holiday party magician for a small business event.

Corporate party magicians who fall into the $1000-$10,000 range generally will have more experience, training, better reviews, and more features.  Most good, trustworthy professional magicians (ones that I would recommend) tend to charge about $500-$1500 for a close-up magic performance and $2000-$10,000 for a one-hour after-dinner show at a corporate event (this could be higher at times during December, particularly during the peak days).

Magicians are used to working with different sizes of events, although you should expect prices to rise the more people they have to entertain. While some magicians can squeeze in more than one party per day, many magicians can only work a single event a day, so their fees will reflect their time commitment and costs, since they are not going to be seeing multiple clients per day, unlike in some other industries. Such magicians will be hired for weddings and corporate events, where a higher level of customization is needed.

The fact is, every magician charges a different price that they set themselves, based on their experience and the service they provide. Thankfully, it’s free and easy to request quotes from local magicians. Simply do an online search for local magicians, send them some information about your event (type of event, location, venue, date, number of attendees, etc.) and ask for a quote. As always, it’s best to get a few quotes from different magicians and book the one you like most. Hire the magician offering the best value, not the cheapest price 🙂
