For more than 30 years, Multi-Health Systems has published scientifically validated assessments that are vitally important to professionals around the world. Their products are so successful, they’ve been translated into 30+ languages and are now sold in more than 75 countries. The company’s expertise spans many industries and their assessments are used in a wide variety of fields including pharmaceutical, corporate, clinical, and research settings.

Every year their head office, based in Toronto, hosts an Awards Gala to celebrate company milestones and highlight their team’s industry-leading achievements. In 2016, the Gala was held at the Markham Hilton.

The event is typically hosted by one of MHS’s executives, but this year they mixed it up by hiring Magician Sam Pearce to host the Awards Gala, as well as entertain guests with an after-dinner show.

Sam and his team were on-board from the very beginning when the event was in its initial planning stages. Emails, conference calls, and an in-person meeting with executives at MHS’s head office made sure that everyone was on the same page and the Gala flowed smoothly from start to finish.

Along with making sure guests were entertained and engaged, Sam’s team also took care of the audio-visual requirements for the event. Four hours before guests arrived, Sam’s team set-up theatrical lighting, a crystal-clear sound system, and bright blue stage curtains; everything needed to transform the Hilton’s ballroom into a dinner theatre. They even set-up an additional sound system in the Hilton’s foyer to play instrumental jazz music while guests enjoyed cocktails.

When guests arrived, Sam was the first to break the ice and spark conversation! During cocktails, guests were able to experience Sam’s Mingle Magic up close, in their hands. One of his most amazing illusions was magically causing a dinner fork to bend and twist beyond repair – just moments after it was examined by guests. Sam’s magic quickly got everyone talking and excited for what was to come.

Following cocktails, the doors to the ballroom were opened and MHS’s 170 guests found their seats. Once everyone was seated, Sam welcomed guests to the awards gala and immediately started calling table numbers so they could start enjoying the Hilton’s buffet dinner.

After dinner, the awards ceremony began. Along with hosting the ceremony and introducing the award presenters, Sam kept the audience engaged by performing highly-interactive magic throughout the Gala. Once all the awards were handed out, it was showtime!

Sam’s 45-minute Hilarious Magic Act had everyone laughing from the moment he stepped on stage. Very funny and completely clean, the show was enjoyed by guests from all walks of life. During his highly-interactive act, the magician invited several audience members on stage, and they quickly became the stars of the show.

One of the highlights was when MHS’s CEO was invited on stage to take part in the big finale. Before he realized it, he was helping Sam climb on top of a makeshift see-saw to juggle giant knives! It was a hilarious moment that’s sure to be remembered for many years to come.
