Many aspects of Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are routine—the business, the networking, and the announcements. But AGMs don’t have to be dull—get creative and plan an AGM guests will never forget. Here are three ways to make a big impression:

Food. Conferences and large meetings tend to have a lot of the same food served over and over. Mix things up by incorporating unique flavours and themes, or serving things in an unusual way. Try serving family style with large platters of food at each table, or give your event a unique Mexican or tropical theme with interesting food. Even colourful plates or fun drinks can make a big difference in breaking out of the typical mould.

Entertainment. A sure-fire way to break up the monotony of AGMs is to bring in a fun and unique performer. Interactive and engaging entertainers can unite the crowd and create an environment that can’t be replicated anywhere else. Magician Sam Pearce can keep the audience rolling in the aisles with his illusions and comedy that will make even the most conservative CEOs crack a smile. No matter what type of entertainer you choose, make sure it is someone who is a good fit for the audience and feel of your event.

Venue. Most AGMs are held in convention centres or ballrooms, which tend to be a good fit for the business and meetings that occur. Mix things up with a unique venue, such as a library, museum boardroom, or historic building. Of course you’ll want to make sure the venue has appropriate space and audio-visual equipment. A change of scenery can invigorate guests to spark creativity and create a successful and memorable AGM.

It doesn’t take much to spice up an Annual General Meeting. Small changes and attention to detail can create a memorable environment without sacrificing any of the work that needs to get done.
